When a brief brush with poverty denies me access to something as vital as clean, safe drinking water, I abandon my dreams of becoming an author. Replacing words with numbers, poems and novels with balance sheets and income statements, I doggedly pursue a career path that ultimately lands me a president’s position with a Fortune 500 company. And then a man, a sailboat, and Lake Michigan work their way into my heart, and I learn what it means to believe in dreams. And the dreams lead me back to the importance of clean, safe drinking water.
